Tom Friedman Yarn Dog 2006
Something about the patience, resourcefulness and twisted vision it took to make this sculpture (and this one) is really attractive to me. So…Tom, if you want to hit me up with a yarn or construction paper sculpture, I will totally get rid of my desk so I have somewhere to put it in my studio apartment.
I own an excellent book on Tom Friedman (from Phaidon) and am hooked ever since. Surprisingly little pictures available online of art by him, unfortunately. This is the cover, which displays a toothpick sculpture, this is a cereal box made from 10 cereal boxes, and this is a bottle of pepto bismoi, full, open, upside down. My favorite is actually 1000 hours of staring, which is a blank piece of paper that Tom has stared at for 1000 hours (not pictured). I could photograph every page, but these are to be seen at high res. Great stuff.
